name one reason why dolphins need to hear very well.

They have poor eyesight so they use echolocation like bats do. They need to have good hearing to communicate and to get around and find fish. They "see" with their ears.

A dolphin is able to produce click sounds, which are sent out into the water. Once these sounds hit an object, echoes are created; the dolphin then listens to these echoes and is able to form a kind of mental image of the object.

they work with sonar and bounce sounds for miles to find out where the fish are and they speak in high frequency sounds with clicks and squeeks
the dolphin is a very sophisticated animal it also has very good eyes
and many are gay
put them on land and they would be reading poetry in no time.
