I can watch tv shows on my laptop and I want to connect my laptop to my tv to watch them on a bigger screen. My laptop is a DELL LAtitude D610 and I have a 40" plasma with every hook up capability imaginable. I thought I could just connect my laptop to my tv with an S-video cord (and then I connected my laptop to my stereo to get a big sound), but there is "no signal" on my tv... am I missing something? How can I see what's on my laptop on my tv??? HELP PLEASE!

the resolution of your laptop's display is very small in comparison to a 40" television though, if the 'tv show' isn't from a high quality source with a large resolution expect the results on your television to be blocky and pixellated.

when connecting devices through televisions and such you also need to switch to the appropriate channel once everything is plugged in, be it AV, AUX, or whatever.

you may also need to use the function key(s) of your laptop to signal to the television that it's sending a picture.

Have you tried changing the input on your television? There's a button on your remote generally. That may help. Otherwise, your tuner should come with software that helps with your television. It'll give you options to select television tuner, or s-video. Not all that sure.
