Okay this may sound a little weird but i call it box drawing. First i sit in a quiet room and i draw a weird looking square and then i draw stuff outside and around it. After about 20 minutes i come up with a masterpeice.

How about common objects. I remember in a drawing class we all had to take off our shoe and draw that. There were some very interesting drawings done!
Also, try drawing your other hand.

a rose is pretty simple.
draw a few circles, making the middle one smallest then making a bigger one around it. keep doing it until its a size you like.
then draw downward lines at the end of each circle so it looks like they're folding like a budding rose.
draw a a U shape from end to end on the biggest circle. then add a line in the middle of that and add a stem.
