Authentic Chanel or not? Experts only!?

Question

I recently got a vintage, pre-1990's purse from an older woman who didnt ever use it anymore. She let me have it for $40 because shes old & nice!
Its black, feels like velvet, and the interior is red, & feels kind of like soft leather-i cant tell. It has a gold chain, with the velvet material woven through it. The quilted diamonds match up, and have the same side lengths. The CC on the front is gold, with a tiny R mark on the top edge of the right C. The top of the right C overlaps the left C, & vice versa. Inside, there is another CC mark on the flap. Under the inner zipper part, there is a CC mark, with "Chanel" under that, & "MADE IN PARIS" under that. There are 2 zippered sections, 1 in the middle & 1 along the "wall" that makes up the back of the purse. They both are patterned inside with horizontal diamonds. I dont see any tags anywhere. Besides the slight old person smell, it smells good & rich. Do you know about this bag & its value if it is real? Ill post updates as u answer!

When I say it smells rich, I meant it doesnt small plasticy or icky...it smells like leather and velvet...lol i dont know nice and rich, good smell. The chain is a little grimy, its old and used, but its not tarnished or messed up.

& i dont know what you mean by "cut in the middle"? Um i dont know what that means so....im just going to say it isnt.

The only REAL way to tell if it really is... is if the person who sold it to you doesn't know what it's worth. wait... that's guitars... but might apply to other things.
Anywho. you can probably look it up online to see if you can find another one that is authentic and look to see if they look the same... and I'm just wondering... but what does "rich" smell like? You said "Besides the slight old person smell, it smells good & rich."

I would look at the stitching because real stitching looks like it was done by a machine. A fake purse will look uneven or like the stitching was done handmade. It seems to sound real though because if the markings are opposite ways from the inside and out, it usually means it is real.

Because chanel bags were very popular, there are TONS of fakes out there, almost unrecognizeable, post some pictures of it and i'll try and tell you what i think. Your descriptions alone wont help, i need to see the shape of it. Also check it if the chain is tarnished or not.

it's a definite real vintage chanel purse..if you wanna make sure and get a chanel expert answer..you can go to a local chanel store and ask the employees..i highly doubt that the purse you have is fake.

It is definatley real the way you described it. If it is made in Paris then it is real.

check if its cut in the middle..if it is then its fake...if not its real..
