I went to the store came home and half hour later my headlights were still on. We tried turning the daytime running lights off, we tried taking the key out of the ignition, we tried taking the fuses out and putting them back in and the headlights just wont go off no matter what we tried. Does anyone know what the problem is? We have a 2005 chevy malibu. How much will it cost?

Check the high beam switch on the directional lever, my guess is it's stuck. Try turning the high beams on and off. It could also be the headlight switch.
If you can't get the headlights to turn off and have to wait to get a repair appointment, there is a large fuse in the electrical box in the engine compartment that will put out all the lights when you pull it. (I actually had to verify this, your're right that pulling the fuses in the passenger compartment doesn't turn off the headlights!)
Try and figure out what is causing it, that way if you take it for repair you won't have to pay for diagnosis, your just paying for the part and labor. It would be much cheaper if you could replace it yourself though.
Good Luck
Did you know that when you put the parking brake on, that the daytime running lights go out. Most people who drive automatics don't know this. ((( you don't have to look like an idiot napping in a parking lot on a cold winter night while your spouse is in a store [headlights on drawing attention to yourself])))

The Daytime Light Relay -
Lift the hood. There should be a 3 X 4" relay box hidden on the LH inner fender. Unplug it. Shouldn't effect the operation of the headlights.
If you are unable to find, contact the service department at your local card dealer to find where it precisely located.
