I had the chicken pox when I was 11 or 12 months old. I've never had them since. I don't think there is a way to avoid them. Nor do I think that it is true that the older you are the more they hurt.

The same virus that causes the chickenpox can cause other health issues.There is shot given now that keeps you from getting the chickenpox.I think they hurt at any age.Talk to your doctor.

I have had them when I was 3, And i only had like 3-4 spots, so there is chance I might get them again, but I havent yet, and i have been around them. And i heard it is true that they hurt more, well not even hurt, you just get more sick and there harder to get rid of when you are older. but anyways good luck!

I had them when I was 15...there is a vacine now and from my experience, yes they were a horrible case, my doctor said they get are worse the older you get. I suppose you don't have chicken pox twice, but you could always get shingles when you are older.

I was 17 AND pregnant. I had to get two VZIG shots in the butt so it wouldnt spread to my son since i was 5 months along. I got lucky and lived through it. Everyone in the family came over and I really thought I would die as in dead, NOT from embarassment. Mine weren't that bad though b.c of that shot
