My bestfriend in the world.. Smokes and he's only 12.
How can I get him to stop!?!

You should tell his parents or guardian. You can ask them not to tell him it was you because you want to help him, not lose him as a friend. You also need to tell him that if he continues to smoke, he can't do it around you. Good luck

his parents should be able to help with this -- if not you can do nothing but show him the ill effects of smoking. But, ultimately it has to be his choice and his choice alone.
Some things you can do to less on the smoking is to tell him that it bothers you -- and you would love it if he could relocate if he really has to smoke -- that makes him have to decide weather he wants to be in your presents or go get that cigarette.
And of course let him know how you fell about his smoking.

You must tell his parents or guardian.
If they don't care about him, the only thing you can do as his friend is to refuse to let him smoke when he's around you.
If you let him smoke when he's with you, you're responsible for his "death-wish" habit, too.
If he refuses to stop smoking, cut him loose.

tell his parents and it's unhealthy to smoking at any age but this can stunt his growth at this age
