Oppression from others and a lack of acceptance. Or they feel there's nothing more to attain to when they're depressed.

Teens, or people in general, kill themselves when they feel there is no other way to escape from their pain. Suicide is not always a clear choice, but rather the result of when pain exceeds the support systems and the ability to live each and every day. Also, I think teens who decide to kill themselves internally want to change their life more than they want to end it. However, changing it seems to out of reach.

usually they try not to but end up depressed living a life and see no other way out of it, they just want it to end. my friend just says, 'i'd just rather be dead than living because i find life to be....... ugh.' its a really tough topic to explain to some people but its just the way they feel and they just need their life to end. they have depression.. etc etc.
edited: i just wanna add that its not because teens arent smart enough or that they dont realize how permanent it is. teens are smart, theyre not stupid enough not to no that death is permanent. ITS NOT A CHOICE. sometimes teens r pressured into doing it in a suicide pact but most of the time they 'chicken out' at the last minute. but seriously its not because teens r stupid etc etc. i will say again, ITS NOT A CHOICE. its usually not about a guy or girl either. they r more sad about that stuff than adults but they usually dont kill themselves unless there is other stuff and that is like the straw that breaks the camels back.

Most often teens choose self destructive behaviour because they lack life experience. The world is difficult for any young adult learning the ways of our society. Teens go through a lot of changes during those years and often there is a hormonal imbalance as their bodies adjust to the changes. They may also lack parental guidance or may not feel that they can speak to other people about their feelings because they do not have a foundation of trust.

Just my opinion....

Many teens do not realize the finality of death. They also exaggerate their problems. To a teen, breaking up with a boy/girl friend is devastating. To an adult, it is not a fun situation to be in, but it is not the end of the world. Many times teens do not feel as if they control their future. Horrible family lives, etc. can lead teens to feel as if their future is bleak at best.

These are just some reasons I can think of that a teen might contemplate suicide.

Some teens chose to kill themselves over small like boys that don't think there cute( visa versa) or being picked on too much but for some it's deeper than that, like wheN there parents are addicted to drugs or alchohol( I tried to swallow a whole bottle of tylenol because parental drug addictions), parents that don't except them, divorce etc. Sometimes it's just a mistake caused by doing drugs.

Because they feel that their world is ending. Its usually depression and a teen has no idea how great life can be when the hormones stop going crazy. Also, they feel they have no one to talk to. At that age parents never understand. Or so they think

You can't cite Yahoo Answers as a source for your paper. Look in the library. There are mountains of research on the subject. Good luck.

They believe thats the only way to escape; they have no other choice... At that stage of life, any problem he/she may face, they may believe that its the end of the world...they can't see the brighter side of things...

Because teens' brains are developing, so everything goes crazy. They get overly emotional, so it requires less of a state of depression than it usually does to commit suicide.
