Thomas Jones is better than Benson but he wanted out so what could they do? I am not mad for them trading Jones I am mad they drafted Benson when there was so many better players available. I was sure they where going to draft a LB in the first round that year. Demarcus Ware, Shawne Merriman, Thomas Davis, Derrick Johnson, and David Pollack where all taken in the first round. Pollack might never play again but I would trade Benson for any of the other four. (Merriman would have obviously be awesome but I wanted them to draft Johnson)

Mad isn't the best adjective to describe my feelings towards them because well I'm not a Bears fan, but I don't think they are definitely trying to live up to what a Super Bowl losing team does the following year with this offseason they have going here.
Lovie Smith isn't your problem. He's not the one making these deals, in fact one of the issues the Bears are having is because it took them so long just to pay him what he's worth. In the mean time you lost a very good defensive coordinator. The only thing I think anyone could fault Lovie for is the QB situation but even that.... what choice did he have?
Not only did they trade Thomas Jones but they traded him for not that much. Benson is ok, but he has not even come close to proving he can carry the load yet, and that was evident in the playoffs. But I do truly doubt it Lovie's choice to make this trade, it has salary cap casualty written all over it.
Now add in the Lance Briggs scenario. They need to get their act together.

Bud.. I play football, trust me, Cedric Benson is a better HB than Jones. He has more power than Jones, what's that mean? He fits perfectly into their system which is brute strength. I'm not weak at all, to say the least, and I'd honestly be scared to play my position as linebacker and go against Benson. His stiff arms are HUGE and snap the defenders head back like no other. He can also break your ankles and juke by you, spin upfield and keep running at full speed. He's just an amazing back. Like I said, I'd be scared to go against Benson, and I'm no slouch at Linebacker.
Also, Thomas Jones wanted out, he is the fool that got himself traded, not the organization. He Is a good HB, don't get me wrong, but from a coach standpoint I'd take Benson over Jones ANY DAY.

I can see why they would let Jones go. He wanted feature back money and they couldnt give it to him because they are already giving it to Benson. This will give Benson the opportunity to prove himself. However, what was stupid was the trade itself. If you are going to give up your best back, Jones is better than Benson now, you need to get something good for him. The Bears are not the Denver Broncos, they cant just go trading quality running backs for next to nothing and that is exactly what the bears did. The Jets really worked them in that trade. The Jets dont lose a first rounder or a second rounder or any rounder for that matter, they simply move back in the second round and they get a good RB and with that moving back in the second round isnt that big of deal. The Bears front office really screwed this one up.

Obviously Jones is better right now, however, he has already reached his full potential. Benson is young, and he has the potential to be better than Jones could ever dream of being. Also, it is not plausible to keep both of them. Use the money where you need it more. Even if their plan false through, at this point and time that was the best decision. You don't bank your future on someone who doesn't have much of a future left. Only thing that I think they screwed up on was the actual deal that they made. They could have found a better deal.

WHY IS EVERYBODY MAD AT THE BEARS!?
they made it to the super bowl! even if they lost still they made it to the super bowl. these r my teams and the last time theyve made it
jets: '69
knicks: '94
mets: 00'
mets and knicks arent that long ago, but i dont remember them at all. being 8 yrs old and 2 yrs old when they made the nba championship and the world series, i cant remember anything.
but all u bears fans at least experienced something this yr.
and who cares if they traded jones! benson is still good, not better than jones, but still good.
over super bowl weekend, u bears fans had something to look forward to: ur team winning a super bowl. the only thing i was excited about was whether or not i was gonna win 20 bucks. so dont be mad at the bears!

i'm mad because they just won't trade lance briggs so he'll shut up. They went all the way to the Super Bowl and he's still crying. The dude passed up a six year 33.1 million deal. That's more than I'll probably make in mhy whole life. I'm mad because they won't do anything to keep this dude quiet. Let him go and get on with their lives.
Well it really doesn't matter because I'm a Colts fan. Y'all lost the Super Bowl!!!!! Go COLTS!!!!!!!!

The Bears front office has no idea how to show appreciation for players that train hard, and produce exceedingly well. I don't see them getting back into the super bowl, especially with grossman.
