i have to explian it and include any cofactors, ATP synthase, and the location of these enzymes within the organelle. But i don't understand it to begin with, so please help any way you can.

Energy from the electron transport chain are used to pump H+ ions outside of the mitochondria. This creates potential energy, and because of the concentration gradient, H+ ions are forced through the ATP synthase back inside the mitochondria. The ATP synthase uses this energy to bind a third phosphate to ADP, creating ATP. The H+ ions bond with oxygen molecules and the electrons from the electron transport chain to form H2O, which is released in exhalation.
