Rat, *a* rat? :)

I've had well over 100 rats in the last 11 years. I got hooked on rats late in life (age 38). I have over 30 of the beasties right now and I love them all.
If you like looking at pictures of rats and my choices for names, here's my mischief:

I love the name Jorge, that is such a cool spelling of George. I had a Blue Merle boy named Jordi.

CongRATulations on your new furry friend. E-mail me and we talk rats all you want.

I have 9 Rats all together. I love my babies!! They're so cute and playful. You can teach them tricks and carry them around.
To Others..If you have a problem with your rat peeing on you, they can be easily potty trained. Start by everytime they pee on you immediatly put them back in their cage. Eventually they will learn to only go in the cage. And if you notice they use one area more than any other in the cage for their buisness, put a little pan there with come small animal litter(some natural cat litters work, but small animal specific litter is the best choice) and pick up some of thier droppings and place it in the pan. After a while, the cage stays cleaner, and you just have to empty out the litter pan.
As for rats being boring, they are very active and intresting pets...a million times better than any hamster or gerbil...
...Good luck with your new friend!!!!!

We not only have a male named Salem, but a female named Sabrina. We just got them about a month ago. I hope you are aware as to how big they can get. Most breeds of them grow to be 10"-12"in length with 7"-9" tails. There are also some that are close to the size of a medium sized dog. My husband's friend had one that was 35 pounds and 3' long with tail. Yes, it was a white pet rat.

I have six rats...Three girls and three boys.
Sophia is a Capped, creamy-colored odd eye standard girl...She's so pretty and I love her.
Next we have ROXAS! She is a Creamy-colored hooded girl with ruby eyes. She is awsome.
Then there is Tear. She is a black hooded. She is so funny she sleeps all the time.
MY boys are Jack! He is a hairless dumbo, who looks as if he's got hooded markings_(i ca't relly tell seeing as he's got no hair!)

Then there is Gerald He's got the same markings as Jack only darker. He is also a hairless dumbo. He is sooo sweet.

Then there is Nockturn. He is a ?Powder blue? His markings are wierd and I can't find them any where! Ok so They are all cute but they need their claws clipped cause they keep scratching me up. But they are all so fun... Sophia (everyone agrees) Is an O.C.D. Packrat. she hoareds everything. She is quite a character. She chews everything up how ever!

Roxas is a smart little something who constantly escapes her cage!
Tear is always in a constant state of slumber!
Jack is all over the place loves to be every where.
Nocturn and Gerald love to just sit on my sholder and sleep. They eat whatever Ieat ('Cept if it's really harmfull to them.) They
have rat blocks to hide underthe bedding and pretend that they've eaten so that they can cling to the bars of the cages and beg for my food....Well who am I to deny them!? Rats are awsome! I'm gald you love yours so much...I see all too often people are whining about rats that they've bought and don't really like! YOU ARE AWSOME! Keep on lovin' him!

When all of our fish died, the bf thought he would get a rat. We got 5. A momma and her babies. Forgot that babies can still have babies. Soon.....we had 26 rats. Fun times. They were OK pets, however, I didn't appreciate the fact that everytime they were on me they would pee. I used to take my favorite babies for outings in my shirt. Funny how so many people are afraid of baby domestic rats. They eventually grew on me. I hated them and their tails at first, then grew to love them. But what the heck do you do with 26? Everntually after giving a few away we found a snake who loved to eat rats. Felt bad that they were to be food, but really.....I couldnt get rid iof them any other way. Was good they went to the natural cycle of life and food chain, then in a bag down the river. In conclusion...we havent any rats. They all died. We kept 3 males together, whcih is apparently a nono. They went crazy and two ate another one.

Yes, I have two males, Marley and Tim. They are wonderful pets- a little skittish at first but now they run to the side of the cage whenever they hear me!They are great to cuddle and will play with you just like a tiny puppy. Everyone is right though, you really should have a pair and make sure they are the same sex!

we've the two considered one of them. My daughter has a albino lavender king snake plus we've 11 rats. some even in spite of the shown fact that rats are up for adoption. we don't stay feed her (snake) and mice or rats in basic terms frozen fuzzies we get from a puppy shop. We even have mice, Syrian hamsters, dwarf hamsters, gerbils, rabbits, cats, canines, cockatiels, some fish, a tarantula, an iguana, a wolf hybrid, a Pygmy goat and a pink sheep. they are stored at my domicile and not in a guard or puppy shop.

I have owned ten rats. They are the sweetest things, the most social of all the small pets. The One I own right now is named Olive--she is a brown hooded fancy rat with dumbo ears. (large ears on the side of her head). I hope you have a great time with yours--they really are wonderful pets!

I have 3 pet rats and they make wonderful pets. Harry Potter is my hairless dumbo rat. He came from a neglectful home. He is completely blind in one eye and partially blind in his remaining eye. He was joined in his spacious home by Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, both hooded rats and brothers. All three of them are best buds!
