Amanda Coetzer from South Africa is the most famous from this era, or maybe for other eras as well. She reached world no. 3 in the WTA tour, and had a lot of deep results in slams and she won titles but what was notable about her is that she had defeated Graf (she beat her in a row), Seles, Hingis, Novotna, Martinez, top 10s and stars - many times and consistently. Her game was also big for her size. All this with the height of 5'2.' This gave her the nickname, "the giant killer."

Cara Black of Zimbabwe and Liezel Huber of South Africa are famous doubles players. Then, there was Amanda Coetzer of South Africa, who was a very good singles player.
