no one "should" do anything just based on their gender. that's a great thing about living in america - we have a choice.

for the longest time, i've always thought i wanted to be that career power executive. i wanted to work for corporate america and be sucessful. cooking and cleaning was what women back in the days.

But honestly, after working my butt off throughout my life to get myself into a good college, then work harder to get a great job, i realize that i want to be a wife and a mom. i'm sure this change of heart is because i met the most amazing guy. i find myself looking for recipes online to make dinner for him, and i actually enjoy doing laundry with him.

it's funny how love changes a person :)

Women can do whatever they want to do!!! When I was growing up in the 60's, our choices of careers was limited - nurse, teacher, secretary, homemaker/mother. Now the choice is so broad that it might be difficult for girl to decide. But, if they want to be astronauts or homemakers, they are both as rewarding as the woman want to make them. I certainly advocate that mothers stay home and raise their children. There is no more responsible job than that. With the Internet today and the opportunities it brings, women can be stay-at-home moms and still have their own business and be totally connected to everything going on in the world. So, go for it Mom!!!!

That's up to the woman. I prefer my wife to be home, raising the children and running the affairs of the house. That in itself is great responsibility and should be appreciated. I'm not saying the wife should be a slave to a man because that's BS. But, I do feel it's better for the household and the community at large. Unfortunatey, that isn't always the case. Everything is so expensive (especially in New York) that it takes two incomes. If the man works two jobs to support the household, the woman won't enjoy the companioship of her husband. If a man asks a woman to be his wife, he really need to be prepared to provide for her because society rests at the feet of mothers.

i think it's 100% dependant on what makes you happy!

I do think, though, that if you have kids, it's good for either parent to be home most of the time. I hate the idea of all day daycare for little kids. Obviously, there are cases where this is necessary, but I think that it should be avoided if possible. But that doesn't mean MOM has to stay with the kids.

Only if they want to... and if they have a husband who will consider them his equal for doing it. It's a sad fact that those who don't bring in money are frequently ranked lower in a household. Not even on purpose, it just happens.

If they choose to be and if their husband makes enough to support her.
