I had an account that was closed three years ago due to default - I had lost my job and the majority of the overdraft was made up of bank charges. Am I entitled to reclaim bank charges if the account is closed?

Yes absolutely! Even closed bank accounts have a "shelf life" of 6 years for claims. Go for it girl and sting the bastards!

I would imagine so as the charges were illegal in the first place. The bank were in breach of contract.

It explains why people are able to claim and how the charges are illegal. Even though your bank account is closed if the charges were illegal then I can't see what is stopping you.

Just be prepared to be persistent and follow the instructions given on the site.

Good luck
