He introduces a bill to bring back the draft, but then when the bill comes up for a vote, he votes NO.

HUGH...what you say makes no sense.

Everyone in the military today is there because they want to be and more than not a large majority are there because they believe that it is their duty to serve their country.

Radical inequality of who serves in the military and in Iraq is BS.

I was in the military for 20 years and most of the people I served with were educated and were there because they either wanted to be or they believed it was their duty to be there.

Seems like typical democrat mentality to me.

Didn't he argue that the draft was more fair or some garbage? I would rather have people in the military that want to be in the military.

The draft should be reinstated. I think what Charles Rangle was doing could be called symbolic. But if we did have the draft people would think much more deeply about sending in our troops to any war that is at the whim of a crazy president. Why? Because they would have a personal stake in the decision since it is their children that would be fighting it and it wouldn't just be sending in someone else's kids. Even Austria has mandatory inscription. Many countries do, it doesn't mean they are going to go to war.

Duh, it's a gesture to indicate the radical inequality of who serves in the military and in Iraq. The poor are overrepresented in the military while the sons and daughters of the rich are nowhere to be found. Draft=military service for all.

he did it for effect. He is actually a poor legislator - His party is in power and nothing is being done except Bush bashing. Let Big Brother address social security and that congress doesn't participate. As to major health concerns. Why doesn't Big Brother - tell us cost to retail prices of prescriptions. Why can't we buy drugs off shore.
