i have had a cold sore for about 9 days now and it is gone but my lip still has a little scar where it was, i was wondering if it is still contagious? for example i had a shower and forgot about it, wiped my face on the towel, then stood on the towel to dry my feet and put on my underwear... could this pass the cold sore to my genital area?? just concerned because i am pregnant...

Your cold sore/fever blister is only contagious in it's blistering stage. When it pops and the clear fluid comes out, it's possible to spread and make the cold sore larger. Once it scabs over, there is no alarm for passing it on.

When I get cold sores here's what I do: When you first feel the tingly sensation, start dousing it with alcohol. Press firmly so the blister kinda pops and then wipe the fluid with the alcohol quickly so it doesn't spread further on the lip area. Dries it out. The quicker the scabbing comes on then the quicker the healing. When the scab arrives, that's when you start putting Neosporin on it. That's a safe measure for pregnant women.

I know you probably didn't like all the gory detail but it works.

I got clinically diagnosed with herpes virus (type 2) about five years ago, when I was still attending college and had a dumb one-night stand. I realize a lot of people say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a huge mistake that one time and suddenly it seemed like I was going to have to live with the consequences for my entire life. The worst part was feeling I could never date men again. After all, who wants to go out with a girl that has sores around her private parts? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/krY90 everything improved.

Not only was I able to eradicate all traces of the hsv from my body in less than 21 days, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so lucky to write that just last week, in front of everybody in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!!! This method gave me back the chance to be happy and experience real love again. Now I want to help others by sharing this story.

this question made me giggle a little bit because i actually read off some dumpy site that cold sores can also show up in the genital area and i freaked out to my ob (im 16 weeks pregant and surrently have my 2nd cold sore since i been preganant and only 3 in my whole life) and he literally laughed at me and said to not believe everything i read on the internet. =] your privates, and your baby are safe. BUT!!!! you can spread your cold sore to your nose and eyes. so if ANYTHING touches your cold sore disinfect it RIGHT AWAY and DO NOT touch the rest of your face.

i dont think you have anything to worry about...really

when I was your age (younger than me), I had those cold sores all the time, as, if someone around me had a cold, my version of the cold was the cold sore...

now i dont get them anymore...cause i am older and, my system has changed..

just take care of yourself...i think your doing a good job..and congratulations...

yeah your fine, your body already has anti bodies made up not to make it spread more. Cold sores and genital herpes are 2 different things, if you have more questions speak to a doctor.
