I'm 16 and I used to have perfect vision and now I'm squinting to read power points from the back row in school. My vision isn't that bad (20/30), but is that normal for my eyes to be worsening like that? I thought that happened to like, old people.

Up until about 13,you were able to "accommodate",in other words you were able to make yourself see better.
As you start to get older, the ability to "accommodate' starts to go away.
Your vision has probably pretty much been like this but with the ability to "accomodate" you could actually make yourself see better
20/30 isn't all that bad though with glasses you could be seeing alot better. . . 20/20.
In most states,it is required to be able to see atleast 20/40 without glasses but it is actually safer for you as a beginner driver to have glasses so that you can see 20/20.

Girl M talks about "readers' which for people over 40,they work perfectly for reading because at the age of 40,our ability to focus on close things starts to ellude us. . . normal aging process but for distance vision as you are talking about, you will need glasses that have a different prescription in it than readers do.

And NO,you aren't causing strain on your eyes thereby making it harder to see at a distance. . . . .It's all about the accommodation ability.

So, I'm like, old myself, and I would say that you are having trouble seeing because you are a student who has to read a lot of books and you are straining your eyes by sitting at the back of the class and trying to focus on the board. In my days, it was cool to sit at the back but you may want to move a few seats up, just so you don't ruin your eyes altogether. So I may be old, but at least I am not wearing glasses because I had the sense to move closer to the board. I will tell you what every eye doctor will tell you, go to the dollar store or the pharmacy and get those cheep little glasses, they work in a situation like yours. And by the way, you young little fart, my eyes are in better shape than yours.

maybe you need to get your eyes checked sweetie because if it is regressing now and you are only 16 you will have a worse problem when you a lot older also you can look into corrective eye surgery and with it being just a small defect it will be really cheap!!

Surprise, vision can get worse at any time. You probably need glasses.
