I have chosen a writer as my career. However, I can't seem to find any good words or pictures I could use to create a collage about a writer. It has to fit on an 8.5x11in piece of paper and be creative. Any ideas? They would be very much appreciated!

take your own writing--poems, short stories, essays---print or write them on different colored papers with different fonts and sizes. cut or tear them randomly, or in grids, or circles, or whatever and arrange on your 8x10 base sheet.
or combine this with some of the other suggestions.
the cool thing about collage is that it is hard to screw one up. :-)
check out below for examples of collages (most done by professional artists)....

These answers are all good - pictures of bookshelves, pens, typewriters, computers... telephones, cars, and libraries - actually, a good writer is able to do a lot of research, talk to people, find information, and is interested in a lot of things. I think this is a neat project - good luck!

Think of who you consider to be some of your favorite writers - Google them for their pictures, excerpts from some of their writings or quotes they have made about the writing process. How about including some work of your own? Make a fake rejection slip to show some of the difficulty in getting published....
