If you are coming to a city or beach resort, Farmacias del Ahorro or Benavides. Also, the pharmacies inside big supermarkets are fine, check the ones inside Comercial Mexicana, Wal-Mart or Superama.

They has some good ones in the Zona Rosa in Mexico City. Don't remember the name of them, but several have the same owners. If you have a script, and if they are out of what you need, a runner will get it from one of the other pharmacies and bring it to you. We had a script for antibiotics. We had to follow the directions for mixing it with water though. They just gave us the powder!

There's one in San Miguel de Allende near the Oratorio and the Artisan's market in Centro. They're very helpful. I never had to fill a script there though.

I live in Toluca, I had supposed that you were referring to chains, not local businesses. When I need hard to get or a specific name brand medicine, I go to Farmacias Ahorro. When a generic will do, as in a med that I have taken every day for years, good ole Dr. Simi (Farmacias Similares) works great. I've never had a problem with their generic medicine. In addition, where I live they have a consultant in back who will examine you and write you a perscription for what ails you (20 pesos). The doctor is always nice, young, enthusiastic, and remembers me from previous visits as well as remembering my name,

I live in Tijuana and the best pharmacy is Gusher, they have a great assortment of medications from all the major labs, not generic. They have affordable prices, and can give you a discount of up to 33%. I see people from the US going there all the time.
