they tax the hell out of us, then won't let us use a legal product anywhere..my idea is to just start taking back areas, like the mall, grocery stores, ...mostly big areas to start...just walk around the mall smoking, enough of us do it often enough, it will become commonplace again..get the idea?..they may ask you to leave, but whatever...we are 20-25% of the population and deserve better..by the way, there is not one case of anybody dying from second hand smoke, no matter what people may say...tell them to prove it beyond a doubt, and they can not....come, on people, light up...smoking needs to be cool again...well actually, smoking is cool anyway..

Just start smoking double what you smoke now and you won't have to worry about it for much longer.

You are so wrong. What a horrible attitude twords things like smokeing. And yes, it has been proven that people die from second hand smoke. What planet are you on? Smokeing is a serious health issue and I'm happy there banning it everywere. Good luck trying to bring it back, it will never happen. You want to smoke, then do it in your own home. People who are non smokers have the right to be out in public and not be around something hazzerdous to there health. Smokeing is not cool. It's slow suicide. Want to have a ton of health issues in your life? Keep smokeing. Get your facts straight.

You can't just drink alcohol anywhere you would like, right? Maybe we should start drinking on the benches in front of schools, hospitals, even churches. Show me one case, proven beyond a doubt, where a nondrinker has died because of being around a boozer. It is complete nonsense to say that something I can do legally is hurting anybody other than me. What do lawmakers, doctors and scientists really know anyway? Let's make drinking in public "cool" again, like it was in the dark ages.

I think smokers brought a lot of this on themselves...one time, when I was about 7 months pregnant, I was sitting on a bench, this woman came and sat on the other end and immediately lit up, which made me mad. Didn't even ask if it was okay.

I'm against all these non-smoking laws, though...but I can't help but think that maybe, just maybe, if smokers were a little more courteous about not blowing smoke in people's faces, non-smokers wouldn't be so eager to jump on the ban-smoking bandwagon.

Unfortunately, I don't think this is a battle you can win at the present. (For the record, I am a smoker so I would love it if we could.) Americans today have been sold on the idea that they have the right to live forever if they just eat the right foods, exercise properly and do nothing that may be construed as fun. Smoking goes against those beliefs and therefore, I predict within thirty years smoking will be outlawed all together.

Sorry pal!! Smoking is the most disgusting smelly waste of money there is!!!! I quit 2 1/2 years ago, and it was the best thing I ever did! I see now what I was like as a smoker - inconsiderate and selfish. You think you can walk up to any building smoking, then throw your butt away. You come in to work and stores smelling like a filthy ashtray. Every move you make revolves around that next cigarette. Pretty soon all public places will be smoke free - incuding your own backyard!!!! Better quit now while you can!!!!!!

I wish they had made cigaretts illegal a long time ago. I never want to go back and go threw the withdrawls ever again. it caused major damage to me. And I am glad I am not letting my kids breath second hand smoke. But anything that can cause withdrawls like that has to be addictive. ear infections are caused by second hand smoke and asma is caused by second hand smoke if I even get near someone that smells like smoke I start choacking. so you can sit in your house and spend all your money on cigs. you need anything you can order off the internet. You try quiting and tell me it is an easy thing to do.

I do think smoking is a bad habit, although I am a smoker myself. It's not fair how smokers are treated, though.
If we were smart, we'd stop going to bars and restaurants, and show the economy that besides paying an astronomical amount of money for a pack of cigarettes, we are consumers just like everyone else, contributing to the budgets.
I guess it'll never happen, though.

Not everyone smokes. There are some people like myself who are deathly allergic to cigarette smoke. Some of us prefer to breathe clean air. Taxes on cigarettes are higher because they are a luxury item, and because of the toxic chemicles in them. I don't think smoking is cool, because technically it is a form of suicide. If you want smokers to be treated better start lobbying for malls, resteraunts...etc. primarily for smokers.

The drunks can drive and kill a 5person family and the dopers can kill so they can get that 20 bucks for some more dope...oops they have to kill someone else cause 20 ain't gonna do it..

Let me preface by saying....I AM NOT A SMOKER. But in one way you're right....smokers are the new jew in Germany. Let's blame them for every wrong in the world. Let's take health care....oh, those smokers cost so much money for the health care system. Well, along those lines, let's line up all the fatties in the world and tax the heck out of Twinkies. Heart disease costs the health care system tons more than cigarette abusers. It seems as though every single person that smokes is thought of as a "bad person" or a person "of bad character". Yes, it is very bad for your health, and truly, for the health of others around you. But I think the government is going too far telling someone, say a bar owner, that his patrons can't smoke in his establishment. If you don't want to breathe second hand smoke, frequent a different bar! Ok, that's all.
