What is apparent is not real and what is real is not apparent. This universal truth also applies to 'love' which has magical effect but many a times it is found to be pretentious and false.

The quote is differentiating between real magic (or miracles) and just illusion (or smoke-n-mirrors). Sometimes you find true love and it's real; but often what you think is love is really something else (presumably because it doesn't last, like an illusion).
But that begs the question, why should true love be defined as ever-lasting?? Maybe we should appreciate love for what it is - a feeling in a moment in time. That's a very strict requirement to impose on love, to be eternal...

It means that love can sometimes be real, whole and have a powerful effect on two individuals but more often than not the powerful feeling that one person is feeling because of another can not reciprecated because it is fake or as the quote put it an illusion.

When love is real it is magic because things happen that you can't explain,wonderful things that fill your life with joy and happiness.The illusion is when we think its love and we get excited and ready to welcome love into our lives and its not really there.

well i belive that the quote means that sowmtimes love can be and that sometimes there actuially is true love but it can also be just soemthing everyone wants ...... and saying that even thou you may think sometihing is true love its not its just in disguise....
i think that true love does excist but only that one in a million actually get to have it... i dont think that you need love to survive you have yourself and thats enough..
if he said that to her,.. it means that he doesnt truly lover her.... thats not a good thing to say to somebody...

it meas love can be so wonderful and like Majic it is so great it is unbeliveable
or so miserable you thought you were in love but it was an illusion....
