I am working on a benefit concert for the crisis in Darfur. The first step is to get a sponsor, and I don't know who would be the best to ask- like companies, or someone personal? I have never done this before, I am only 18 and I need as much guidence as possible. If you have ever been incharge or started a benefit concert for any reason I would really appreicate some step by step guidence on how to get this off and running. Thanks for your time.

Fund raising is no easy task. You need to start by writing a detailed document about the event, entertainement, guests, sponsorship fees, where the money is going and how and then attempt to meet up with the marketing departments of big firms that might be interested in sponsorsing such an event as part of their social responsibility campaign.

I cant tell u which companies, usually giant fmcg firms. Try and find the history of sponsorship of similar events and try to contact companies with history of sponsorships.
