Pretty much my back is facing the door because my manager wants to see my monitor when he walks in. Stupid, because i work worse, since i turn around every time i feel that there somebody behind me and get very scared when there is somebody standing there.

I think that it's perfectly normal to be afraid of having your back to the door, it's a survival instinct. Maybe you could ask your boss to turn your desk sideways so that he can still see you and your moniter when he walks in. I would just tell him that your are uncomfortable and can't work efficiantly in your currant situation.

You need to rearrange your office. Have a talk with your supervisor about the problem and bring up that productivity is affected by environment and comfort. If that fails, keep your door shut. It is your work space and you need to make it the best possible. (A noted exception would be if he had a reason to want to see your monitor such as having caught you doing something that you shouldn't have done before)

it's not healthy because it's not natural. we still have natural instincts borne from a time when we had to protect ourselves constantly. on a deeper level, it's not a good idea to ever place your back to a "door" be it mental, physical or otherwise. asian countries have developed a knack for understanding this sort of thing, hence fung shui (i think i misspelled that. see what you can do to change it around.

Oh, that's me, too... jumping and almost screaming... foolish, I know.
If you were to ask my husband this question, he'd say "What are you doing wrong to be scared...?"
