I searched online and also in several medical databases and the only reference I found anywhere had to do with Agatha Christie's book "The Hollow." I'm thinking that perhaps it's a fictional disease for the purpose of the book.

It is a fictional disease featured in Agatha Christie's "The Hollow". The disease is fictional, but from the description in the book, it could also be MS, or multiple sclerosis - which is NOT a fictional disease.
Agatha Christie served as a volunteer nurse from 1914 to 1916, and was qualified as a 'dispenser'(pharmacist?) in 1917. She was very knowledgeable about poisons and their symptoms because of this. The description of the disease may be accurate, while the name was chosen to be intentionally fictional - there's no way to really know.
Christie's descriptions of the effects of poison in her books however, have actually helped in the discovery of crimes - they are done so well that symptoms have been recognized even though attending doctors were puzzled.
