Petrol
The price fluctuates from area to area, and State to State. Try around the $1.25 per Litre mark.

Housing
Once again too many variables. $800,000.oo would probably get a roof over Your head.

Beer
Heineken is not a local beer, and as such is retailed as a boutique beverage. Local beers are. on average, $3.50 per Schooner. Heineken would be twice that.

What is cheaper here??
Too many answers for tha broad a question.

A can of Coke
$1.20 - $1.50

Australian Citizens are covered by Medicare. Tourists are not.

Car insurance
Each State has different laws. The smaller the car, the less You pay for a "Compulsory Third Party" certificate.

Rent
Rents are high in the major cities. One room would be about $160.oo per week.

Minimum Wage
About $580.oo per week. (note Average wage).

Before You come here I would read some Australian Newspapers, just to get an idea of the prices. Try the "Sydney Morning Herald", "The Courier Mail", "The Advertiser", "The Age", All of which should be on the internet.
Hope this has helped You, Cheers!

We dont use gas we use petrol. and that changes daily. A three bedroom house? Start saving lots of dosh. Beer? I wouldnt know Coke can about 1:20 Medical is sometimes free you have to be an Aussie citizen and that takes a lot too. But it is getting morer expensive. Minium wage is about Aus 17:00 but that is for 15 year olds. The rest is getting more expensive beacuse it costs a huge amount to transport stuff here cause we are in the middle of nowhere so to speak and the Government likes to tax stuff. But if you can afford it its great!!

I can tell you that meat is cheap but clothes are expensive. You are covered by the NHS if you are a visitor from Britain. The Australians have Medi Care for which they pay part of their wages to each week or month.. Beer and Spirits are cheap. There is no Vat on any goods. The rate of exchange is about 2.50 Australian Dollars to our pound. Their bank notes are thin plastic to prevent forgery.
