Okay, im not beating around the bush with this one. i have a 4.33 weighted GPA (honors course is 5.0 for an A and im in three honors courses. that makes it). i play golf and soccer for the school. i am going to start attending 2 or 3 clubs next year (im a frosh). lets say i maintain this performance for the following three years, What type of college can i get into? a community college,a state college, a selective college, or a highly sellective college? i just dont understand what these types of colleges are looking for. thanx.

Keeping in mind that your SAT scores from junior/senior year will also be very important; you will likely be able to get into most selective universities. Community colleges don't have very high admission standards and you should set your sights higher. State schools range from being not very selective, to being highly selective. As you progress through high school, you will likely have college recruiters visiting your school, be receiving information packets in the mail from colleges and will have the opportunity to tour different campuses.
I'm sure also that your school has college information available and can tell you how to search for a school that is right for you.
However, since you're a freshman, I wouldn't worry about college just yet. You have 3 years left to enjoy high school. Good luck through those 3 years and beyond.

You will be able to get into your state university, which is more selective than you think these days, and you may get into some selective colleges. You probably wouldn't get into highly selective Ivy League colleges. A good site to check out is collegedata.com. You can plug in activities, a GPA. and guess at class rank and SATS or ACT, and then pull up various colleges to see what your chances are of being admitted. You can play with the numbers to see how a change affects your chances at any particular school.

You should apply to at least one state school as a fall back. You'll probably get into most of the "selective" schools also. With "highly selective" schools, you never know. It's a bit of a crap shoot. Sports are okay in admissions, but I don't think they matter much unless you're good enough to play at the college level.

Woah, if you keep this up and your test scores too, then I'd say you'd have your pick of the litter. State schools wouldn't be a problem for sure.
