probably the same reasons that hometown buffet are closing so many restaurants they aren't making any money I just lost my job of 4 years because of it

A lot of BBQ restaurants seem to be having trouble now - so many small places are opening up, it's almost like there is no room for the chains. BBQ is a very personal taste and closely tied to regional trends - the Memphis dry rub, North Carolina smokey, Georgia mustard, Alabama vinegar based sauces, etc. It means different things to people and national chains are having a hard time competing. Damon's has been closing stores for years now - it's sort of a downward spiral when a chain starts to fail.
