In the Senate, Republicans easily turned back Democratic legislation requiring a troop withdrawal to begin within 120 days.

The measure set no fixed deadline for any troop withdrawls, wishful thinking on the part of Queen Pelosi and King Reid.

The will not get even close to the 60 votes they need in the senate.

They don't have the votes, they can't get the bill passed, so why act like they care about what happens with the troops.

OR the Democrats could lose a bunch of seats in congress because of what they are doing.

It could go either way, it is common knowledge that democrats traditionally hate the military.

Political grandstanding.
Non-binding resolutions.
Proposals that even the authors know will not stand a chance in hell of passing.
And all while preaching the "support the troops" anthem.

I personally believe that any set date of withdrawal simply gives the terrorists the date of their victory. The only way we can lose this war is by quitting - and the terrorists know this.

"Democrat" and "Republican" are only labels. the matters are the matters and no person, regardless of their label, can decide what to do.the subject is the electorate are too stupid to determine this out. they think of that if one team of those with one lable has the main votes it rather is one factor, and if the different team with the different lable unexpectedly gets the main votes that by some ability issues would be distinctive. it rather is the standard sorry crap as quickly as extra, and all the spewage from the Democrats approximately how they have been going to end the conflict is only spewage. remember, electorate did no longer vote FOR the Democrats whilst they voted, they voted against the Republicans. The Democratic spewage sounded extra clever than the Republivcan spewage on the time. Spewage is distinctive while you're driving the motor vehicle or sitting interior the lower back seat, however the motor vehicle finally ends up interior a similar place.

Well I am not sure they are acting. Sure some are, but all in all I think it is unfair to think that way. Why do they press the measure? For publicity. The American public is pretty tired of this war and wants it ended. Regaurdless of their chances of passing a law people see that they are trying to pull the troops out, and this, they are hoping, will win them votes come election day.

Also, if they do pick up more seats in Congress next election then they might get the votes they need. Having the bill already introduced will expidite the process.

When these cowardly traitors see the troop increase working (which it is) they will quickly jump on the bandwagon and scream they always wanted more troops in Iraq in the first place and that Bush could have won the war sooner if he only listened to them. They are all cowardly hand wringing islamo facist appeasing butt heads.

I don't think they will never give up, I hope they never will, people need to realize that the U.S is in a no win situation when it comes to Iraq, all the lives that has been lost, and all the money that has been spent is not worth fighting for, I think bush just needs to give in, because once he is out of office the war will be over, and the next president will bring them home.

As a Liberal, I don't think it is a good idea to have a troop withdraw deadline date.

We are in a war, and giving a date to leave will help our enemies, and will boost the morale of the terrorists.

There is no way they can put a deadline on troop withdrawal. there are several factors here: do we really want to give the enemy a date? what if there is an event before that deadline (such as another terrorist act)?

They will keep trying because they do care what happens to the troops, that's why they want to bring them home. It's the republicans who think we should honor our men and women in uniform by ordering them to indefinitely babysit a civil war. Even the ancient Romans redeployed their troops when civil war broke out in occupied territory, to protect their soldiers.

It's just a pointless effort by the Democrats to make their supporters think they are actually doing something. Nothing more, nothing less.
