what kind of burn is it? electrical, steam, fire, hot metal from car engine or whatnot?
most of the time u just have to use ice or cold water. some say if u gonna soak for a long period (over an hour at a time)... use tepid water, which is about 70 degrees faiharaheit. that is the ideal temp that will keep u cool, but not give u hypothermia.
wrap it in wet towels also if u need portable cooling!

If you had a 3rd degree burn. The places where it is burn will not be painful for the fact that nerves are burned.

If its a 3rd degree Burn, GO TO THE HOSPITAL!!! Keep something cold on it to numb the pain. You better get that checked out!!

There's a super amazing burn ointment called Americaine! I used it with excellent results for pain and complete healing within a day or two. I got it from my mother-in-law who got it from a paramedic friend of hers. I don't know what store sells it, though.

3rd degree burns aren't painful...3rd degree destroys all tissue, muscle, and nerves... so you don't have 3rd degree burns

Flexible cold pack or bag of ice. Be careful not to get frostbite too.
