http://bettatalk.com/ is a great site, here are some quick links to sections of the site:

quick care sheet:
*silk or real plants, plastic can tear their fins
*warm water, at least 75°F although 80°F is ideal, this means they should have a heater!
*they shouldn't be kept in anything less than 2.5 gallon so it can be heater but also so it has room to swim, the more space it has the more active a betta will be.
*clean the tank often! bettas are perfectly fine with low power filters and I recommend a 5gallon tank with a small filter instead of a bowl because this rarely needs full water changes where as a jar or anything without a filter should be changes every 3 days to once a week.
*know your diseases, keeping the water clean will ensure that you most likely won't get diseases, but knowing what to look out for and how to treat them is a great way to give your betta a better chance of surviving them.

Some good betta care answers already! :)
Bettas are wonderful fish - the key is to put together an environment that is similar to their natural habitat. They come from the river tributaries of the Mekong delta of Thailand, so you'll want a slow moving water flow, fairly heavily planted, with some plants sticking up out of the water, they should have a water temp in the high 70's low 80's, some hiding places, with a minimum of 5 gals, ideally 10 gal. The only other inhabitants of the tank should be a couple of ram's horn snails and maybe some ghost shrimp.
When he has a good environment, you'll see him perch on the plants under the bubble nests he's built (the plant leaves sticking out of the water help keep the bubble nest together) guarding his nest, he'll patrol his territory, and learn to associate you with getting food. When you use floating food (pellets, freeze dried, or live brine shrimp) he'll get all exciting to see you and even learn to strike at his food. My betta jumps so hard sometimes he breaks the surface of the water.
Creating a natural environment for you betta will reward you in watching his natural behaviors and bringing out his really wonderful personality.
Bettas are very curious and like looking at things outside their tanks and enjoy hearing you talk to them. It's only when they're stuck in tiny bowls that they they just sit there.
It's a myth that bettas live in dirty puddles and it's kind of a shame that they're such a hardy fish - they can survive in sub-optimal conditions, so unfortunately, people have created the myth that they "like" those poor conditions and they only keep them in nasty little jars.

just keep the water clean, make sure the tank is oxygenated, and keep the betta's seperated they are not hard to take care of. Feed them the fish food from the pet store and nothing else. Bettas are one of those fish i really hate because they are too simple and not fun to own

Kylie has it nailed. That's the best way until you learn far more about bettas. Start there and you will do well.
