I think it means you have to do a lot of research ... looking up information from other sources, encyclopedias (if you know what one of those is ... I think they became extinct back in the 1990's when the Internet took over). There should be a bibliography in the back of your book to name the author(s)' resources. See if you can find some of those books or articles, read up on them, get an idea of whatever points they were making along to go with the facts and refer those to the book you're doing your paper on. Sheesh. It's been a long time since I had to even think let alone write a paper. It must be great to have an education. I never had one myself so you might want to disregard the afore-mentioned suggestion.

Whoa! Narrow down your topic first - a topic this big will overwhelm you. Either choose one woman in history or a few women who have had the same type of impact. You could choose social reformists like Rosa Parks, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony, or explorers/pioneers like Sacajawea, Amelia Earhart and Sally Ride, or some other topic. Focus first; that will help a great deal with your stress.
Next, come up with a thesis question that you want to answer - "How did these women change the attitudes of people in the world?" or "Why were women excluded from certain things for so many years?", or "Who were the first women to ________ (fill in the blank with words like "explore" or "write novels" or "become world-renown fashion designers") or a question like, "Which women had the greatest impact on ____________History?" (fill in the blank with your country of origin). That way, when you research you are looking for the answer to your question, and when you find it, that is your evidence.
Good luck!

I think it's where you research a topic and do a report on it. You will probally be required to keep track of references.
Make a list of books, page numbers, magazines, , issue numbers and website addresses that you got your information from. Turn this in stapled to your report. Don't forget to re-phrase things by putting them into your own words. The copy laws state that you can only copy up to 7 words in a row. For example,
"I'm so tired today that it sucks," is 7 words, so you can copy that if it was in a book but you couldn't copy anything more than 7 words. In that case you'd have to re-phrase the sentence. For example, "I have a head ache and I don't think it will go away." is over 7 words. Copying that is illeagle. So you would just have to re-phrase it like, "My head hurts, it might not stop." Something like that. Silly examples, I know. Make sure you get clear with the teacher what the research paper is supose to be about. Is it about a specific topic? If so then you're stuck with that topic. If it's just a specific category, like for example, someone whose made a difference. In that case you have some choices to make. You have some control over what you're going to write about. Good Luck!

First of all...your grammar is horrible.
Secondly, are you sure your teacher "isn't very smart," or are you not listening in class.
Thirdly, a research paper is more involved than simply a "BIG book report."
Lastly, your topic is way too general.
Good luck writing your paper.

Um... it's pretty simple. Research up about the topic and write the information you learn into a book report.

no, its not a book report. i would say just do some research on historical women in history, lets say Joan of Arc do some research and then in the report just say what you've learned.

I am a teacher myself. I strongly suggest that you ask the principal about what a research paper consists of. Or make an appointment to see her.

Find Who (research) are some of the women in history that were historical figures, and write a few interesting things about them.
http://www.distinguishedwomen.com/
http://www.historyswomen.com/ http://www.womeninworldhistory.com/resources.html
Read about some and select one of two that are your favorite--and write every thing you think that was important they did to change lives; even your life today! (About their lives, where they were born, raised, and schooled.)
