Why or why not?
You see, I've wanted to get my lip(snake bites) and septum pierced but i don't know how to convince my dad.
Please DON'T tell me what a horrible mistake I'm making and that I shouldn't get it becuase my mind is made up.
I make good grades. I don't hang out with 'the wrong crowd'. I'm a good kid.
& I don't want to get my lip pierced just because it's becoming a fad, I want to becuase I like how the piercings look.

I know that most people won't let my wear them while working but i won't even be out of school (I have 12 more years to go).
Besides, I don't plan on wearing my piercings past the end of high school.

No, piercings don't last forever. If you leave the jewlery out long enough the hole will close.

I think I can help you be prepared.....
As a parent who would not like it if my child chose to peirce whatever.....I think I may have a unique angle. If my daughter came to me with this request (currently she is 7 and we are discussing this about the ears), I would expect her to be fully informed and capable of having an open, two-way discussion with me. That means...a discussion like an adult. No fit throwing, no accusations, but a discussion of facts and consequenses.
I would expect her to be mature enough to listen to my point of view and legitimately consider it. As I would do the same to value and consider her perspective. I would also expect her to find a legitimate and licensed peircer, with great references and certified from the health department. I would also expect her to get a price and earn the money herself.
If she approached me loaded with information, I would consider her responsible enough to make a decision on her own, and heed my counsel. I would hope she would chose not to, but would really appreciate her being informed.
I say...get your information together, earn your money, and go to your parents and let them know you are serious and ready to assume all responsibility for this decision. They will be so impressed, it will be hard for them to not let you have this one.
Now....I know this may not be popular, but if your parents have religious beliefs against this sort of thing, I'd advise you to leave it all alone until you get out of the house. Then spread your wings and peirce away!

I am on the yes and no side of this question. Here's the reasons: when I was 15 I got my nose pierced,17 my tragus,18 my tongue,19 nipple,And 22 labret. I kept my nose the longest.nipple the shortest, labret Got into a fight and it got ripped. My tongue I started talking funny. So I took my nose out because I made a life changing decision to except God as my Savior, now I am a radical Christian. So It will depend on how you want to live your life. People do judge you by your appearance. So if you plan on being a Dr. then probably a waste of money and healing time(it takes awhile to heal completely). If your going to do something not so public it might be O.k. But IF I were to give you my personal opinion I'd say Don't harm your temple. It's in the Bible and I am a radical christian so I need to tell you what the Bible says. Hope you make the right decision.

Ewww...nasty. I hate facial piercings unless it's like a teensy stud in your nose. And I absolutely hate it when people my age, younger or even up to 11-12th grade have any facial piercings. It's trashy looking I think. No, I would not let my kids for that very same reason. They get infected a lot too....I know you said not to say this but I'm going to anyway...you are making a mistake. People think less of people when they see that they have facial piercings too...it's a fact. If you go to a job interview and they see a ring...or even a hole from a ring they don't like it. And teachers don't appreciate it either.
I'm all for piercings...I have 8 ear piercings (I am 14) but anything else unless it's a teensy stud in your nose just looks bad.

No, I did not. I told them when they finished high school and went off to college if that was what they wanted fine.
I won't tell you the dangers, because you wouldn't listen anyway.
I will tell you my oldest son lost all the enamel off of his front teeth because of the piercings. Ask him if he still has them. Noooooo.
I know that your mom and dad are proud that you are such a good student and I know they are glad you watch the company you keep. But, it is their job to protect you and that is all they are trying to do.
Hold off, you have plenty of time in your life to get piercings. Don't be in such a hurry to grow up.

I wouldn't like that if my son/daughter would want to pierce their face. I dont think I could stop them however. Ofcourse it all depends on how old they are...etc. but in the end it is their face and they really have to make their own decisions.
As far as why not...well...I dont' think the face piercing is something that looks good since it is on your face. Any piercings anywhere else is fine but nothing that is on the face.

You probably can't convince your dad if he doesn't like piercings. The best thing to do with parents that hate what you want to do to your look, in my experience, is just to do it anyways. Then they freak out, then they get used to it, and eventually they'll get over it! This is definitely one of those situations where it's easier to ask forgiveness than seek permission.
If you're too young to get piercings yourself, it's probably just too bad and you'll have to wait a bit or do them yourself/get a friend to do them.

No I wouldn't let my son or daughter get their face pierced. The girl because she'd look like a freak and it's a sin to alter the body for both men and women. The boy because he shouldn't try to look like a chick either by wearing jewelry.

uuh well i would let u if u are in high school. but personally i dont think peircings look good on girls (except for the ears of course) ... only a small amount of pple look good with them .. but its ur choice. also if ur gonna try to get a job, even like a simple job like working at McDonalds or babysitting, the employer may not wanna hire u because of u look.

Beats the heck out of a tattoo! Piercings grow back. One thing to keep in mind, however, most jobs will make you take them out while you're working.
