is the scion TC a "good" car? I mean does it have a good running engine and what's the miles per gallon on it?

The Tc uses the same basic engine as the Toyota Camry. That basic engine design has been used by Toyota in several generations of vehicles now for over 10 years. It's about as "bullet-proof" an engine as there is in the industry currently with may owners with many 10's of thousands or even 100's of thousands of miles on their vehicles. As for MPG epa estimates are 23/30 for manual transmission models and 23/31 for auto transmission models. Since their introduction, I have heard few if any complaints from owners and have had many repeat owners of the vehicle.

Hope this helps.

All the scion cars have engines from the toyota cars. They are reliable, the xa and xb's engines come from the toyota echo, the tc's engine comes from a toyota vehicle too, i don't know what it came from, but toyota didn't make any new engines for the scion models. the new 08 models have bigger engines. The new xD has the current corrola engine with 128 hp, the new xB has the tc's engine with 158 hp, the 09 tc is rumored to take the current Camry's engine i think it has 268 hp. I know that all toyota cars are reliable and last a long time if you take care of them even if you beat them up a lot. I drive like a crazy man in town and i got the box car. I would say the tc is a good car, this is the last year to get a tc, next year they will make a new model to replace the tc, or at least change it and make a redesign. The mileage on the tc right now is about 20-25 mpg, i get 28 mpg on my box car, i can't complain tho, i drive nutz.

I have a 2007 Scion tC Azule Pearl with manual trans. I will be honest, I LOVE my car, but there are a few issues. The AC takes FOREVER to start blowing cold air! I live in Florida, and my friends old school Bonneville starts kicking AC instantly. My tC takes a minute. I also love the panoramic roof, but HATE the cheap interior sliding cover for it. A thin sheet of vinyl is not high quality by anyones standards. Other than that, it's a great car with moderate 'sportiness', and very economical. Can be made into quite the sleeper with a CORRECTLY installed TRD Supercharger -- won't void the warranty either :) I will be getting one soon.

The Scion TC has the Camry 4 cyl engine.

It is geared to be peppier and obviously handles better.

It is stylish and has a lot to offer for the money. I bought one for the Mrs 6 months ago, she absolutely loves it!

Most importantly do a little research and you will be amazed at how well these cars keep their value.

They are in high demand and Scion to their credit has not flooded the market with them keeping their resale value at insanely high values.

All that and Consumer Reports rates the TC a Best Buy. That means quality, style, performance and value.

If you get one, make sure to get the pedestal spoiler it just finishes the look of the car.

yes, the scion tc is a great car. being built by toyota, you know it will be dependable. it uses the same engine as the toyota camry, 2.4 L (2AZ-FE) which has been used for quite some time now. it is capable of 127 mph with the stock speed limiter inplace. i've got it up 0-60 in about 7.2 seconds running a stock set-up. scion appeals to "younger" drivers by adding many gadgets and makes it VERY easy to customize your own (you can even get it lowered and supercharged at the dealership, without voiding any warranty). I've had my 07 since august and i havent had ANY problems with it. i average 20ish miles per gallon driving it hard in the city and about 29 on the freeway (driving hard). for the money, its hard to find a car that beats the tc in overall driving experience, price, and luxury.

Ive got an 05 tC. Its a nice car and comes with a lot of stuff for a decent price. If you start adding in options it will add up fast though. Mine has a few problems. Ive had 2 cracked radiator caps and 1 cracked radiator. It got replaced under warranty. I had a hatch rattle, moon roof rattle, and a dash rattle. The dealer claims they couldnt find anything. Turns out I could fix the 1st 2 myself in about 5 minutes. The plastic inside of the hatch had come loose from the metal outside. The moonroof had come off the track. Both easy to fix with nothing more than a screw driver. Havnt been able to find the dash rattle yet though. I also get about 25 mpg hwy but I have the SC. There is no way that girl is getting 42 hwy and mid 30s city with a tC. Drop them to 32 hwy and mid 20s city and its possible but probably not really likely more than once in awhile.

It's a good car. Reliability is average, so it might last about 10 years or so. It has a pretty good engine and it has 23 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway.

It is made by Toyota, one of the best selling car makes. The engines usually last forever. I had a Camry that lasted to 278k miles, And my Celica I have now has over 202k miles. The Scion is a great car. It gets 30-35 mpg highway and 23-29 mpg city. Most of them are salvage because it's the new generations favorite car to speed in. And because they are fairly cheap there are a lot of thing available on the after market to make them faster.

I bought a tC in Sept. I LOOOOVE it. I get about 42 mpg hwy and about 32-39 city. We havent had a single problem with it. But if you are tall I wouldnt recommend it. Other than that, it handles well and I topped it out at 120 mph.
