I'd like to know. If there is a difference, what is it?

It can be like classical music in a way. A lot of classical music is written four trios or quartets and each may have a lead violinist or lead cello depending upon the peice.

Instrumental music is the same, it takes popular songs so a small band, a piano, a trombone, a clarinet and saxophone have arrangers make up arrangements that fit their instruments so they can play a version of a popular song.

It just means no singer or singers.

Most classical music is instrumental but not all instrumenal is of the classical genre. An instumental is basically a song that has no vocals, just musical instruments playing.
