Why does is my 14 year old daughter attracted to illiterate yobs? she is bright and attractive and just starting out as an adult. She seems uniterested in the bright attractive boys with which she has most in common ,instead she wants to attract the attention of guys with no future who she seems to hold in the highest esteem.

Is this a phase?

How long does it last?

Why do girls do this?

Girls want to date the bad boy, but we marry the good ones.

Unfortunately, in high school the yobs are the popular ones because they have power. And high school is all about being as popular as you can be. Hopefully she'll realise this and out-grow this phase by college.

It's their hormones. They look at a guy and decide he is "cute" and their brains go on vacation. They say opposites attract, maybe if the less intelligent types are buff or do a lot of sport, she admires that...and if they're working and have money they can dress sharp and have money to spend on her.
With some girls it is a phase. They need to feel they are "adults" and feeling attractive to the opposite sex is part of that. There's also an element of rebellion, getting involved with guys she knows you don't like. With others, they'll be boy-crazy all their lives and that seems to go with terrible taste in men. But she's only 14, I'm sure she'll mature with time. If she hasn't come out of this by the time she's 18 though--then you worry.

1. They feel sorry for them and think they can change them - they think they can see the 'nice' thing about them.
2. Unfortunately it appears that illiterate yobs are the fashionable item to have on your arm these days. I see beautiful, clearly bright girls with yobs attached daily. This can be the only reason.
3. We all have to learn the hard way and once your 14 year old daughter realises that illiterate yobs are boring, she might just pick someone that you like.
4. Goodness only knows how long it will last. With me it was until about 18.
Don't worry. At the end of the day you have to trust her to make her decisions and be there for her every time it goes wrong until it goes right. Its scary though. I've been through it three times with three daughters...All the very best.

well how old are these knuckle dragging no mark losers? if they are alot older than her then i wouldn't let this happen she may hate you but she'll thank you one day. i'm almost 17 years old and my mom always wanted to be my friend (i don't live with her anymore) and i wish i would have had more of a mom i really needed guidance that i didn't get. if they are around her age i wouldn't worry about it to much they could out grow it boys change alot from 14 and 17. i wish i could help you more but i don't know if it's a phase or not i'm still attracted to the scum of the earth n there is nothing i can do about it but i know very well what i won't put up with and i'll kick em' to the curb w/ a quickness if they cross the line. don't be to strict though she will find away to do what she wants anyway it will only push her away.

From experience. I can tell you that they represent the dangerous side of life. A more exciting way of life than the same safe routine. The fact that you don't like them, makes it more fun. It's a girls way of rebelling. And she could have some self esteem issues that make her go for the bad boys. Maybe she feels she doesn't deserve better. We have a tendency to date how we feel about ourselves. If you think back to when you were that age....hormones and all maybe you can use this in a positive way, Accept all the boys she brings home as the best guy in the world and maybe she'll stop dating the low life.

Girls do this because its bad. Who wants to be with a good boy that doesn't come out at night but stays in studying when they can be out with the bad lads having fun and feeling bad. It also doesn't suit their parents so that is another plus point. It'll wear off in time, a good 5-10 years in my case. Don't nag her about it you'll make the situation worse, just try to ignore it all and hopefully the novelty will wear off.

1. It somtimes is a phase that she may or may not grow out of( more than likely she will find out how jerky they really are lol)
2. It can last a llllllllllllooooooooooooonnngggg time lol or a very short period shes 14yrs old.......you have 4yrs to help her out lol
3. Because its almost like a game and when you win you let them go........good girls love bad boys!!

It is a phase and it will last for how ever long it takes you to stop commenting on the yobs your girl likes, so the more you comment on them she'll be more inclined to like them, she will grow out of it.

Hate to say it, being a dad to a daughter, but think about giving advice on birth control . A Baby really will change her life and slim life chances. Yobs come and go , live with it.
For u both
