well with just that bit of info its hard to say. but it could be just food sensitivity. are u a parent looking for something secret?
sounds just like heartburn. when she lays down that would make it worse since the stomach acid has a straight and easy shot up the esophagus to get up there and give here that sensation.
did she try any antacids? rolaids, tums etc? not a prilosec type med, that prevents it from occuring as much, not stop it when it is already happening.
as far as the nausea, well it could be related... stomach acid might maker her feel nauseated cuz its not pleasant tasting or feeling.
or it could not be related at all, just that theres something in her stomach from the nite before that is usetting it.
goto doctor or try the over the counter stuff rolaids tums to see if it relieves it a bit, then a prilosec once a day or so to keep it at bay. but if u gonna give her medicine to take everyday, have a doctor check it out.
and don't ignore it, it can lead to probs later. like esophageal cancers, ulcers, etc

I have suffered from heartburn/acid reflux since around 13. I have been on many different meds, I use Wal-Marts brand of Zantac once a day. The RX that works the best for me is Protonix, but I dont like the price.

I agree, acid reflux seems to be the culprit. This is a very normal problem in people of all ages. Take your daughter to the doctor and they can help you out. I've gotten heartburn since I was 8 years old, and I'm in my twenties now. I wish her luck!

It sounds like it could be acid reflux disease. She needs to be evaluated by a dr to find out if it is that or something else going on.

She could have a hiatus hernia - very common indeed - I had one from the age of about 19 - a while ago now!. I would pop along to the doctors just to have it confirmed.
