White dwarfs are close to end stage events in the evolution of a universe.
Neutrons stars are the next step.
The percentage of white dwarfs and neutron stars probably escalates dramatically towards the center of a galaxy and the percentage of of white dwarfs and neutron stars could eventually dominate the matter close to the center.. Black holes are postulated to inhabit the center of galaxies but I don't believe they can exist.
they would be infinite entities that have no place in the evolution of a universe.
White dwarfs and neutron stars are probably formed differently near the center of galaxies than they are in less congested space.
I won't go into this any further at this time, but it may be difficult to accurately determine the percentage of white dwarfs at any one time.

im not sure what the exact estimate of the amount of white dwarfs is in the universe. considering that they are so faint i think it will be difficult for astronomers to predict exactly what percentage of stars are white dwarfs. besides the only ones we know about are in our own galaxy...perhaps other types of galaxies evolve different concentrations of stellar populations than our own. good luck in finding this answer!!!!
