Theres is not a specific age requirement. You have to be at least 17 to join and no older than 27. The AST school is a VERY DIFFICULT school to get into-let along get through. Only less than 1% of the CG are rescue swimmers. Most of the kids who come through are extremely good at swimming-most are swimming champions. Don't forget that people don't need to be saved in calm water-that's for lifeguards. You may find yourself in Alaska in the bearing sea with 17 foot waves and below freezing temps!
