I have visited each of the major cities in Australia and loved every one of them! Due to family reasons I have chosen to migrate to Adelaide. I am only 26 and my husband is 25 so the most obvious choice for us would have been Melbourne or Sydney for the social life. Is there lots to do in Adelaide as we have a great social life here and wouldn't want to feel trapped. Most comments about Adelaide just seem to refer to the fact that it's a great place to bring up kids etc.

Like any other city Adelaide goes through peaks and troughs of when there is lots going on and when it dies down a bit and there's just the regular pubs and clubs to go to and stuff. like at the moment there is the police and firemans games on, the fringe is on, we just had womad and clipsal and its just one huge party. There are some good pubs and stuff to go to around Adelaide too and there's a pretty good live music scene for local and Aussie acts to get in to as well. as for day time stuff there are lots of cafes and markets and things to go to all over the city and then there are always wine tasting tours and things to do over long weekends and stuff... I hope you like moving to Adelaide and form your own opinion on it not just listening to what everyone else has to say about it.

Adelaide is a very quiet and laid back place. It is the most inexpensive city of Australia in my opinion but I would not say the night life is great there. If I was moving to Australia I think I would pick Melbourne as it is pretty, charming, vibrant and weather is more like the west. Good luck anyway.

Adelaide is very social and family friendly.

If you are looking for night life, I'm sure you could find something. It's just that Melbourne and Sydney are more famous for it.

It's not like Adelaide completely shuts down at 6pm and goes home...

Lived most of my life in Adelaide. It is much the same as any other Australian capital city, important to have a friendship network, Hindley Street good for late night entertainment and yes good to bring up children.
In short plenty of night time entertainment and a really great city.
