Time out on the Global Warming thing.

This really belongs in the Politics or environment section, but since you asked, here is my opinion......

1. Polar Bear population has actually doubled from 10,000 to 20,000.

2. Polar Bears can swim up 60 miles. They love the water. And if they don't love the water, then why does every Polar Bear exhibit at every zoo have a huge pool for them to swim in?

3. Just this week an expedition to the North Pole to film evidence of Global Warming was canceled as it was too cold for human beings. It was measured at -100 degrees outside and -50 degrees inside the tents Fahrenheit.

4. It was predicted that this year's hurricane season was going to have 9 hurricanes. There were only 5. The prediction this year was off by 45%.

5. The polar icecaps on Mars are melting. That has nothing to do with man.

6. During the industrial revolution, tons of unfiltered coal and pollutants filled the air, and the temperature did not significantly change.

7. India and China are exempt from Kyoto which means they can continue to produce without restrictions. The 2 largest populations on Earth.

8. President Clinton rejected Kyoto while he was President for the same reasons Bush did. I'm not defending Bush, just pointing out overlooked facts. Al Gore was the Vice President at the time.

9. Ice ages have come and gone long before Man had any impact on this earth.

10. There may be Global Warming, but if the Martian poles are melting it might just have something to do with the Sun or increased solar activity.

11. The weatherman can't accurately predict the weather for the week, how can they be so certain about global warming?

PS - Notice I get a thumbs down for stating facts, not opinion.

In the 70's, the scientists were trying to terrify the world by saying that we were on a cooling trend and definitely headed for another ice age!

Since the one thing that all scientists can agree on is that we are in the middle of two ice ages, how can they possibly know how warm the Earth is "supposed" to get before it starts cooling off again???

That being said, we should cut emissions because it affects our air quality and that directly affects our childrens' generations. We should also do more to enforce recycling. As one of the world's superpowers, we should absolutely set examples to help save the future for our children.
Despite what the scientists say, I do not believe that we are causing "global warming", I believe that every 10 years or so, the world simply adjusts its climate, and that is what we are seeing.

Proof of this is that last week, Providence broke two records for being the coldest it's ever been in March, two days apart.

Well I presuming 'we' refers to the United States, and then it can seem a bit presumptuous to 'set an example'.
However your right, the world has become extremely civilised, especially if you consider the fact that we only started travelling by train 150 years ago. this advancements however has come at a price, and the countries which are more pollutive do have a greater responsibility. I cant however see Bush, not to mention the Chinese and Indians 'setting this example'

Global warming isn't caused by CO2 emissions, but sunspot activity over which we have no control. Just get on with your life and don't worry about it, as it's out of our hands.

YES! our standard of living is fueled by greed, everything has to be faster, tastier, better, louder, lighter, heavier, etc. would it kill us to drive slower, less often and using fuel with a ton of ethanol in it? no. would it kill us to switch to solar or wind power instead of burning tons of coal each day? no.
