I just got back from the Doctors who decided to not take a blood test but instead to use a doppler to see if they could hear the heart beat. The heart beat they heard was 160 beats per minute. She said judging by my last period I would be 19 weeks along, what I don't understand is why I had a negative pregnancy test at the doctors last month and now I'm supposedly 19 weeks along??? Wouldn't I have noticed????

That doesnt sound right...I would ask for a second opinion and demand a blodd test or have an ultrasound to measure the size of the baby...are you sure they said 19 weeks or 9 weeks?

So it is confusing. But my books and my experiences says you won't be able to hear the heartbeat especially to know what the beat count was until 9-12 weeks. Also you might be able to feel the baby move before 19 weeks but uselly not until 20 weeks or after for real movement. I would for sure ask for a ultrasound. I am 16 weeks and my dr. did an ultrasound at 8 weeks to see how far along I was. Also by your last period you should be able to get it narrowed down. Congratulations

When was your last period? Drs. usually go by that to determine a due date....but your Dr. should have done a blood test and ultrasound to see how far along you are...especially if she feels that you are really 19 weeks along..Good Luck!

Maybe not. You don't really feel kicking until some time around now. You might have felt fluttering before, but if you don't think you are pregnant and don't know what to look for, then you might not have realized it. Good for you, you are past the first trimester--the hardest part.

Why didn't they do blood work and ultrasound. It doesn't make sense. Go see another doctor.
