If Homosexuality was indeed Genetic then why the parents are straight and their offsprings are Gay. If had a preference I would not want to be Gay I tried and look very straight but I cannot suppress when I see a Man that I am attracted to
Is it possible that a homosexual person has someone in the ancestors that were GAY such as an uncle or an aunt could be Gay? Take into account Charles Darwin theory of evolution!

I am hetro-sexual and have 2 gay brothers and 1 gay sister. I have 4 kids of which 1 is gay, my sister has 3 children of which 2 are gay..... ummmmm genetic sounds right here.

It is neither. Both of my parents are straight...which rules out genetics. And why would anyone "choose" to go through their life being treated the way that homosexuals get treated? I have tried to live my life as a heterosexual, and it is like this: I can't! I cannot suppress the feelings I have for men, and the feelings that I do not have for women. Does this make me less of a person? Certainly not. I can't change my eye color...

Even the ultra conservative president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary has said that scientific research "points to some level of biological causation" for homosexuality last week.

An October 2004 scientific research publication stated that scientists at the University of Padua have found that women tend to have more children when they inherit the same - as yet unidentified - genetic factors linked to homosexuality in men. This fertility boost more than compensates for the lack of offspring fathered by gay men, and keeps the “gay” genetic factors in circulation. Mothers of gay men produced an average of 2.7 babies compared with 2.3 born to mothers of straight men. And maternal aunts of gay men had 2.0 babies compared with 1.5 born to the maternal aunts of straight men.

Another study published in Human Genetics in February 2006 examined X chromosome inactivation in mothers of gay sons and mothers whose sons were not gay. Normally, X chromosome inactivation occurs at random: half of the cells in a woman's body will have one X chromosome inactivated, while the other half inactivates the other chromosome. Researchers found that in about a quarter of mothers who had at least two gay sons every single cell in these women inactivated the same X chromosome while only 4 percent of mothers with no gay sons showed this type of extreme skewing.

A Canadian university study published in June of 2006 stated that, although researchers have known for years that a man's likelihood of being gay rises with the number of older biological brothers, that the new study found that the so-called "fraternal birth order effect" persists even if gay men were raised away from their biological families.

A January 2007 report suggested to be gay you need to receive one gay gene from both parents, and that those with only one gay gene have a selective advantage because they are heterosexual but have increased style, male sex drive, charm and seductiveness towards women.

Well it can prefrence, and that girl that said "its like being born with blue eyes" needs to update her bio. Cuz traits are genetic anyways.... i think its is something are just attracted to when you find that a certain person attracts you and it happens to be the same sex, and they end up prefering that sex ...i dont know if that made sense....sorry!

There is not one bit of scientific evidence to prove that homosexuality is genetic. So, if the choice is that or preference, the answer is preference. There are studies which suggest that soem people may have a predisposition to it, but then they are the subject of a sexual trauma which pushes them over the edge. A high percentage of gays have been molested when they were young. We all have predispositions when we are born, whether it be to alcoholism, gambling addiction, blonds or being in control. It's what we do with those predispositions that matters.

Genetic. There is nothing about it that is a choice. It's just the way they are.

For the 8 billionth time today, people are born LGBT or straight. There is no "choice" or "preference" involved. Neither sexual orientation is more "right" than the other. Humans are just variant and different, that's all.

Oh, and to Chris and others - this is not a "belief." We have science to back it up, vs. bigoted opinion.

Contrary to popular belief, I think that it is a preference, but not a conscious one. Is liking a certain kind of music or having a certain personality genetic? I believe that through the definition of social roels one goes through in childhood and through the course of development of ones sexuality, the person finds themself with a certain orientation and then chooses to embrace that lifestyle or no.

Both.. I prefer being the way I am. It means I'm not a narrow-minded bigot. BEING STRAIGHT IS NOT NORMAL!!

Neither........ You don't get it passed down from your parents, and you don't choose to be gay. You are born that way. Its like having brown hair, blue eyes or brown skin. you are just born that way.
