You are so right! The games will probably be a complete fiasco anyway, and a total embarrassment to us all. The one thing that is really bothering me is where they are gonna put all the horses? they come with huge lorries, grooms, equipment, feed and bedding galore.....not just an athlete in a track suit...nobody mentioned them yet! Just how big do they think Greenwich is? (ps please don't read Versantly's answer it is just too upsetting!!!!)

Nothing this government does surprises me. I am sooooooooo ashamed to say that not only did I vote the simpering idiot in the first time, but I cheered, celebrated and insisted my children remember the day as an important one marking the end of eighteen miserable years of Tory rule. As a lifetime Labour party supporter-EX, that is-I have now witnessed the decline of everything that is dear to people like me. I shall never vote Labour again: Blair is the most arrogant PM the country has ever seen.
Olympic Games!!!! When do we ever win ANYTHING?????? Wimbledon? World Cup? European Cup? My patriotism flew out of the window along with the great British delights like the old Grammar schools, teachers who could spell, teach and discipline, clean hospitals and social housng for people who needed it. Dont get me started!!!!!!!!!!!

If we get away with £10bn I'll be surprised - I'm saying that it will be nearer £20 billion before it's finished.
Mind you you can't give up the Olympics! It is an honour to waste this amount of money - they would have screwed something else up instead anyway.
More interesting is the fact Tessa Jowell's husband's trial started yesterday for corruption and taking bribes. Jowell sounds like she should be standing trial here - for benefiting from the proceeds of crime.

When you are talking £Billions to have got it wrong by 25% would have been abysmal but to now say it will cost 200% more is pure incompetence and who is to say it will not double again by the time we actually manage to get it ready in time. Just look at the fiasco over wembley stadium times that by 20 and imagine the embarrasement ahead.

I tried to raise this issue some weeks ago with my question in similar vein.
What I fail to understand is that if you or I asked for a job to be done, we would not ask for an 'estimate' but a 'quotation'.
The Government, of any colour, always get an estimate and we all know that is nowhere near the cost of the project.
I believe this practise to be very underhanded and it legitimises the organiser's right to 'up the ante' and give everyone a shock.

Not the slightest, afterall, they're JUST LYING BASTAR@DS....they paint a rosier than normal picture so that all the MUGS out there thinks its a good idea.
Anyone who has come to know how government officials think and work WILL agree with my comment above..
ONCE again, ALL MP's are LYING Fooks!
Competency doesn't come into the equation, Just look at the amount of tax WE all PAY to plug LOOPHOLES they have made i.e. ASYLUM SEEKERS (say no more)..
NUFF SAID!

It doesn't surprise me in the least. And the original costing of around £2bn was a major factor in the games being awarded to UK.
