A teacher does more than lecture. A teacher can organize discussions, give out handouts, consult with students, grade homework, lead field trips. etc. A lecturer gives speeches in generally large classrooms and often doesn't know his or her students at all.

I think the main aim is same for both profession (in-fact same its teaching only) to educate the students. However we can differentiate as we know the difference between knowledge and information...A lecturer fills knowledge vacancies in students mind and gives more and more information to withstand with outer world. Secondly, the role of a teacher is to just build up a base for a building, while lecturer shapes them for preparation of actual building. Teacher refers a very limited books on the other hand lecturer uses a lot of references.......

A teacher explains and validates a point. A lecturer simply gives their ideas and it's up to the listeners as to what they will do with the information the lecturer gives.

Education is the process of teaching to learning. When pupils are unawared with importance of the education and knowlage, due to small age, special train persons needed to carry out the learning process, this attractive simple and elaborative, repeatable, limited content process and called teaching. Teaching/school includes standardized knowledge as natural limitations are there due to age.
Higher education is real world thing, infinite possibilities.
Now, after school, when pupils become students it is expected that at least he is literate and interested in some subject knowing vitality and holiness of knowledge. Now he must learn. Lecturer's first responsibility is creation of new knowledge and second responsibility to guide amateur learners, we say students.
If some body says that lecture is type of teaching then he don't know the purpose of education. Also blind to diffrence between school education and university education.
This is my understanding. You are open to conclude.

Teachers: Walk extra miles for the students, does more than been told, impact life with passion and it is not a job it is all about a passionate soul that embrace another soul. Anyone can be a teacher if you have the same heart but not all can be a lecturer.
Lecturer: Professionally paid for their contribution in shaping or delivering intended courses module, walk in deliver and walk out after the duty…
Fortunately many universities & colleges lecturers are teachers at the same time.
