Women simply become self conscious. Men are more prone to letting things migrate south of their own accord; they are good at losing hair without fuss (well, I am!) Once a woman has her man, and the relationship has gone beyond 10 or 15 years, she may let herself go.
Having said that, there is the phrase: "Many a good tune gets played on an old fiddle"

I'm not sure but most men do look soo good the older they get. I think women are making a come back with this though....
