Chatting is only the start....its how you feel about the person when you meet is the big decider if the two of you will connect. It used to be going to clubs and pubs that would form relationships, but now with the internet, it makes learning about someone easy, in the comfort of your own home. In a lot of ways chatting on the net is good because you get to know the person from the inside out, not the other way around when you are attracted to someone in the traditional way of dating.....there are also a lot of idiots you meet through chatting, but you have to be wise enough to sort out who the genuine ones are and who arent....there are predetors out there who are masters of disguise, so you can be as vigilant as a private detective and you can get deceived. The majority of people, I believe, you meet on the net are genuine. Its only when you meet the person will you know if there is a hope of a good solid relationship.
Its only when you get to know that person in the flesh and then date for a while will you know if it is going to work....like I said, chatting is only the first step......the rest is like any kind of normal dating....it takes time to get to know a person....it takes time to know if you are trully compatible.
I think people who proclaim their love without ever meeting is absolutely crazy. I have met a couple of men I got along with so well.....I thought we would really click. When I met them in person, there was just something about them that I didnt like....I think its one of those mysteries that cannot be explained.....its called charisma....something intangible...we cant touch it, but we can feel it. You have to meet a person in the flesh to see if the charisma and connection exist.
I met the love of my life online....I had feelings for him just through chatting, but I wasnt foolish enough to base my future on feelings I had with a man I had never met in person....luckily enough my feelings in person were even stronger when we met....I am totally in love with him, and he with me....I can see us growing old together.

Be it internet or meeting in a pub or at a party or at office or in a disco, these are just opportunities to make a contact and start a relationship. Internet has several advantages though. One can publise their likes and dislikes and interests for several people to browse making it more probable for like minded people to get to gether.
In the end though the most important thing is that the chemistry between two individuals after meeting sparks a fire of romance, passion and mutual understanding.
There are lot of predators on the internet specially for the young ones. So there are down sides as well....

i dont think so. here are some reasons why.
1. this person could be anyone
2. sometimes people lie on the internet.
3.plus you dont know if they have had any criminal history
4. you dont know if there dangerous
5. you dont know for sure if they are who they say they are.
there are reasons why an internet relationship can be so dangerous. I mean mabey they are who they say they are but what if there not what if they have a criminal history and just got out of a mental facility. it may sound like im exagerating but you should use real caution when persuing in a relationship on the internet.
now if for instance they are real and they really are who they say they are then it is possible that you could have met the person of your dreams, but i wouldnt rely on the internet for dating, there are too many people who come up missing or get hurt because they thought they found that special someone on the internet. so like i said use caution.....and again you never know....Goodluck

Im in Venezuela at the moment have been for 6 months . I started chatting on the inernet with no intention of finding love. A year passed with just being friends we both had "real relationships" Then a few months later after I returned form traveling around Europe. We started chatting again. Every Day for hours. I realised that my feelings had changed towards her. I had fell inlove. We both laughed at how cliche and silly we were but I wanted to see if it was real. So I saved enough money and flew to Isla De Margarita to see her. Shes right next to me now and we are very much in love., SO yes internet relationships can work but you need to see the person in flesh and blood to realise your true feelings....There will never be an end to true relationships uless we develop that technology for virtual worlds with all feelings and emotions. .

I met the love of my life online seven years ago. We are totally happy together. Honestly, I feel online is the best way to meet someone so long as you are careful and read between the lines.
People go to meet the other person way too soon. I have friends who will talk to someone and after only a couple of weeks go to meet them. In my opinion this is not only dangerous but likely to fall to disappointment.
Jack and I talked for six months both on the phone and online before we agreed to meet in person. It protected both of us and not only that but if either of us wasn't honest in what we were saying we would have tripped up in that period of time.
The other benefit to meeting online with this time allowance lets you get to know the person for the person and not for appearance. Think about it, when you meet someone say out in a club or wherever, what is the first thing you do ? You look at that person. Judgement is made right there, based on appearance. Maybe that person wasn't all that you expected so you walk away. You may have walked out on the one person who you really would have connected with in heart, but you'll never know that, you judged by appearance.
Online you have the opportunity to go sight unseen and the excitment of waiting for "you have mail.." or seeing that person appear online waiting to talk to you is the key to the fun. It adds mystery.
Having done it both ways, as computers weren't big when I was young and dating then meeting Jack when I was older and computers were all the thing, I'm a firm believer that online is by far the best way to meet someone.
Good luck but do be careful, use sound judgement and don't be in a rush no matter what your heart tells you. Time and patience will lead you to that one special person that is out there waiting for you.

My husband and I are real proof that some relationships started online can become the real thing. We met 6 years ago online and I don't think I would change a thing. It's really not so different meeting future friends or lovers or spouses online than meeting them at church, parties or bars. Honestly, I don't think meeting a guy in a bar is real relationhip material for me...but hey that's my opinion. We gamble everyday that we are going to meet that right person so why does it matter where you meet them right.

Not really. Met a woman online and we met up. It was very clear from the outset that all she was interested in was sex. the "relationship" lasted for about 6 months. It was pretty shallow though - I was just a weekend sex thing. Perhaps the internet gives the impression that people can be treated as things

Online relationships aren't real, they're just a living example that people are becoming engrossed in a virtual world not the weird one. It's stupid and creepy. People are so obessed with the idea of love they're creating illusions. Internet love is not real love, its fake. Only losers date on the internet, with no lives who don't know how to wait for the one.

The only problem I can see about Internet relationships is that the 25 year old, 6ft, blond hair, blue eyed lawyer you love is a 14 year old, 5ft, long haired boy with bad acne.
