Many careers require a college degree in order to even qualify to take the licensing exams. For those jobs that don't require a degree, the education still looks on your resume/job application. A degree shows that you are able to set a goal for yourself and then do what is required to accomplish that goal. It shows you are not a quitter. Also, even for careers that do not require an education, what you learned in school has broad applications to life and to any workplace, especially the basic math and English classes always required in college. I got more than one job based on the fact that I had a college education (B.A. in English lit and M.S. in project and systems management). When everything else is pretty equal between a college-educated applicant and one without the education, the one with college is much more apt to get the interviews and the jobs. However, work experience is also important. My getting a job that did require an education was actually based on lots of little, low-level, part-time jobs I had in high school and college. In this case, I was competing against another lady who had impeccable educational credentials (Phi Beta Kappa out of Sarah Lawrence College), but she had never worked a day in her life, so my having work experience really helped.

Education- Secondary schools are nothing compared to the educational experience you get in college. The work load is a higher challenge and there are so many subjects that you can learn.

Career goal- A lot of careers these days require a college degree. If it doesn't, you make more money and get more respect with a degree. The farther you go in school the more money you will make and the more respect you'll earn.

In today's society, you will need a good education to succeed in life. Very few people will give you a chance if you don't have a college education. But don't fool yourself, it must be combined with the ethic of hard work, or you will never rise to the top. If you think that all of the people at the top have easy jobs , well you have it wrong, they work 70-80 hours a week and their minds are always working. Education is a must.

if you're disabled in any way....mobility problems, vision problems, hearing problems, general health problems...it isnt worth going to college...well, unless you take classes like office assistant courses which can help you be more independent and understand life better...or basic auto mechanic or cooking classes cuz they can save you money on car repairs and help your food be safer.

My husband who only has a 1 year certificate makes $10.50 an hour and works full time.
I've got an associate degree for administrative assistant, a 2 year college degree. I've applied to 250 jobs over 2 years and all I have been able to get is a 12 hour a week $8.50 an hour job. So no, I'd have to say from my experience, college doesnt help you have a high paying job.

Do you really think that for a high-paying job you'll have enough knowledge after high-school? If you plan on working in a fast-food, forget college. But you'll learn very good life skills, meet different people, learn stuff and especially be able to get a good job.

it depends on your career goal.
if u want to be a hairystylist or work as a garbage man..u dont really need much education.
but then again if you are a hairstylist with an MBA you can open lots of hairstyle stores and financially manage them yourself. same with garbage. you can own your own waste disposal company. lots of money in that.

lots of competition out there. its good to have both education and street smarts rather than just one or the other.
to be successful you need to be a well rounded person.
up to you.
