I'd like to sell cookies, breads, cakes and frozen caseroles, but I want to do it legally. Do I need a lisence in CA or can I just go for it?

In CA, you will need a permit to get a certificate in order to obtain a license. Then seriously consider contributing to your inspector's family college fund on a regular basis to seal the deal. Good Luck.

Start with your local health department. They will have to inspect the place where you prepare the food. Then you'll likely need a business license so that you can keep up with the tax you'll have to charge the purchaser.

i don't know about a license but i am pretty sure you are not allowed to cook stuff up in your own home kitchen and sell it in calif. you need a commercial kitchen. and it is better to have a business license then you can write off stuff for tax purposes and with a tax id # you get wholesale prices at some places.

Check with your local small business bureau. They would be able to give you the information that you need. Good Luck
