They sound exactly the same when I say them out loud. I call it St. Patrick's Day though if I ever refer to it. I feel like an idiot for saying St. Patty's/Paddy's since I'm hardly Irish at all.

that climbed a sumit and starved himself for 40 days its now a Holiday and the place he did this at is a church in Ireland

it's st paddy's day! it always makes me laugh when I see st patty's because nobody in Ireland ever calls it that, I think its really weird lol :D

You call it both bc they both have the same pronunciation. You would spell it St. Patty's beucase there is no D in Patrick.
