A lot of people are aware that the long count of the Mayan Calendar ends on Dec. 21, 2012. They have been lead to believe this is a day of doom, but in reality it is a misquote. The Mayans do not say "the world will end", but rather "the world will end as we know it". I myself am more concerned with the possibility of a pole shift, leading up to 2012. The Mayans are most concerned with the possibility of a deadly war leading up to 2012.
I would buy the house, but you may want to find one in a safe location; one away from the coast and areas prone to earthquakes and falling bombs. The following is a little summary of the Mayans and their predictions for the time.
______________________________
The Mayan Indians regard their beliefs as both a science and a religion. Their discoveries are not done in a lab but rather by tapping into the cosmos via the mind. Through the extensive use of meditation, they are able to discover and track planetary movements as well as space anomalies such as black holes. They used this information to construct a calendar so accurate that no present day calendar can rival its accuracy. They also use this information to predict future events.
According to some Mayans, this date marks the end of the long count of their calendar; Set to end on a winter solstice (12-21-12). On this date, our Solar system will be center aligned with the Milky Ways equator. Our sun will be centered in a position called "The Tree of Life", as it does every 25,800 years. We will have exited the forth dimension and entered the fifth dimension. This date also marks the end of the Mayan "Great Cycle" of the long count, which is equivalent to 5125 years. We exit the age of Pisces and enter the age of Aquarius.
In this position, unusually violent sun spot activity may cause a pole shift. Earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods will run ramped. Significant loss of life will occur. Earths magnetic field will temporarily collapse. Humans will be exposed to a cosmic energy that will facilitate enlightenment. In this state of higher consciousness, we will recognize that all matter, plant, animal, mineral are bound as one. This realization will mark the end of wars for a time. People will be able to connect to the essence of god (vibrating energy) like only the most enlightened can.
The date marks a goal to be reached. Evil forces will make every effort to keep humanity from reaching the date. These evil forces are those entrenched in the third dimension, in the Material world. They have no desire to leave this age and wish to continue exploiting and endangering all life for material gain.
Wars just prior to this date could be most devastating, with a loss of as much as 2/3 of our population anticipated. The resulting man made environmental damage could make life inhospitable for those who survive.
Humans have freewill, Man's future is not set yet, nor predictable:

This is probably due to the fact that the Mayan calender ends in 2012. So people have used this to add new fear into peoples heads mainly to sell books. This date has been used by Christians . It is supposedly the year that Jesus will have his second coming. Aparently its not going to end but the world will be reborn.. Now all this is purely speculation and you should do your own research on the matter. Save up for a deposit for a house if it ends well then doesnt matter if it doesnt you can enter the property game. But enjoy each day as if it your last.

very few people have faith it. basically some gullible youngsters and new-age wackos who might have finished extra clever in the event that they had decrease down on the entertainment drugs. Predictions of doom in 2012 are a gaggle of fairytales, made up via people who want to sound important yet did no longer take adequate technology at school. one and all of their claims can actual be disproved. there will be no pole shift, Planet X/Nibiru, deadly image voltaic typhoon, uncommon alignment, photon belt nor the different of the made-up nonsense. it rather is basically a heap of rubbish.

You know that since time began the world has been going to end so many times you could write a very large book about it, but we are still here, and so what if it does, i mean what can we do about it i have no fear of death, and look forward to the next life

Crikey, didn't we all survive the millenium? The only reason the media pushes this crap is because the headline sells. I honestly don't know anyone who believes this, although a lot of religions will use it to push their personal agendas.

first off IT'S NOT TRUE!!! no one knows when the world is going to end. if your a believer in christ than you should know that whoever thinks they know when, doesn't. The "end" will happen when God the father chooses. :-)

Because they are looking for an excuse not to have to pay for the Olympics being held in London in that year. The media are very manipulative.... :-)
